In this role, you will be responsible for the technical management of your assigned projects, with a specific focus on technical planning, cost, schedule, performance tracking and reporting. You will ensure that all technical performance objectives are achieved, and you will also participate in resource planning and tracking in coordination with other corporate entities. The ability to communicate status effectively with internal management and external customers and suppliers is key.
As a Project Engineer, you'll assist in developing and implementing integrated plans for product development including coordinating activities throughout the product lifecycle from design concept phase through customer acceptance. You will monitor the product/program/project from initiation through delivery, interfacing with external customers or field-based employees on technical matters, as needed. You'll also review, manage, proactively challenge, and control status of programs and budgets, manage schedules and prepare status reports, and guide and lead teams in achieving the goals of the program including issue identification, resolution and contingency planning.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the engineering design, development, test and delivery efforts for assigned projects (typical 3-4 projects composed of multidisciplinary teams executing concurrently)
Technical Management:
Provide technical direction and oversight to the project team.
Conduct technical reviews and audits to ensure project deliverables meet quality and performance standards.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including systems engineering, hardware engineering, firmware engineering, software engineering, test engineering, and quality assurance to ensure successful project execution.
Identify potential technical risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project performance.
Identify, track, and resolve technical issues and problems, escalating when necessary.
Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the project team.
Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions as needed.
Project Planning and Execution:
Develop and manage project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
Track project progress against milestones and deliverables, making adjustments as necessary to ensure successful project completion.
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers, ensuring their requirements and expectations are met.
Communicate technical status, issues, and resolutions to customers and stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
Assist with testing if required to keep the project on track.
Cost and Schedule Management:
Monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring projects stay within financial constraints.
Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Prepare and present technical reports and documentation, including progress reports, technical summaries, and final project reports.
Must-haves:
Bachelor of Science degree in a related field of study or equivalent work experience
Typically, 6+ years of progressive engineering experience, which includes 0-2+ years of management experience.
Be able to travel to customer sites (typically bi-monthly or quarterly once cleared)
Knowledge of engineering principles and practice
Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development team
Basic understanding of requirements management, system design, integration
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions and test procedures
The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
Preferred:
Typically, 2-4 years of relevant leadership and/or project management experience
Background in the Defense Industry
Experience leading a multi-disciplinary design and development team and communicating with program management and customers
Familiarity with preparation and development of project estimates, technical proposals, and program cost and schedule management
Comfortable in Linux / RHEL development environment
Understanding of requirements management, system design, integration
Ability to manage complex situations, delegate authority, lead and inspire your team, drive innovative thinking, instill collaboration, drive for success, challenge status quo, and demonstrate the ability to adapt to dynamic situations
Experience in team building, time management, conflict resolution, communication, briefing, presentation, and strategic thinking
Estimated Starting Salary Range: $143,487.14 - $197,294.82. SNC considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.
SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
